A.C. Sanders has 1 article appearing. His regular column Signs of El Paso based
on history and folklore of the El Paso Southwest this month features John
Butterfield and the establishment of the Butterfield Overland Mail Company. This
famous stage route ran from Missouri to San Francisco. El Paso was the
mid-point and provided the largest of the way stations. This town was already a
stop for wagon trains headed to the California gold rush. The stage was one
more brick in making El Paso a transportation hub for the entire Southwest.

The monthly meeting of the El Paso Writers' League will come to order at this
time. After a short business session, the guest speaker will be Ben Saenz, a
renowned local novelist. This is a special opportunity for members to engage
with a bestselling writer, learn his methods, and find out how he gets his words
published.

Mr. Sanders is compiling
anthologies of his short
stories and essays for
publication. "Many of the
pieces are written and some
have seen publication, but
more are in the process of
being."
The anthologies will vary in
subject matter. The first
publication will probably be
his Remnants of a War
which is pretty much
complete. The layout needs
to be designed and
photographs incorporated.
Another anthology will be
general in nature.
"I am presently working on
material for a series of
stories about growing up in
the funeral business. I am
also considering the
co-authorship of a book of
stories about sports
officiating. Both volumes
could hold great
possibilities for story telling"
